Given its reputation as a centre of the arts, it is no surprise that Hampstead is home to three of London's better known repertory theatres and a truly top-class arthouse cinema. Evenings here certainly focus around those performing arts activities. One-off performances sometimes at unusual venues are also far from uncommon, so check local listings. A good place to look is the local weekly newspaper, the Hampstead and Highgate Express (http://www.hamhigh.co.uk/).
